The Monapilla Story
Monapilla Escape is the most recent addition to the family-run Monapilla Estate, a 600 acre mixed farm, just minutes from McLaren Vale. While Monapilla Escape is new, Monapilla farm began in the 1830’s, with our heritage listed cottage still standing today.
This long history means we have some very old vines on the property, some 33 acres, all Shiraz, produce fruit that consistently grades in the top 5 % in the region. In fact, our grapes have gone into the famous Penfold’s Grange Hermitage, Wolf Blass Black Label, and Penfold’s St Henri. Our grapes also go into the almost-as-impressive Monapilla Estate Premium Shiraz, which you’ll find a complimentary bottle when you arrive.
Along with our vines, Monapilla Estate is home to over 400 of the best-looked-after sheep on the planet, producing award-winning lamb that regularly features on the menus of some of our state's top restaurants. Premium Monapilla Shiraz paired with premium Monapilla lamb, cooked outside on the BBQ, is an authentic South Australian experience.
